University of Iowa Health Care Strategic Plan

UI Health Care has prepared a new strategic plan that will guide our focus over the next several years. The plan includes initiatives across our tripartite mission of education, research, and patient care, and it will drive our continued success in changing medicine and changing lives.

The plan includes recommendations from the recently completed review of the Carver College of Medicine (login required). In conjunction with the university’s strategic planning process, the UI Health Care plan is in the finalizing stage. Continue reading for more information and how you can contribute to the process.

Steps in Our Planning Process

1. Steering Committee was Formed

Steering committee with 7 - 11 members, including co-chairs and organizational/collegiate shared governance.

2. Conducted SWOT Analysis

(Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Review the current plan to identify opportunities.

3. Engaged Community

Engage with the community via listening sessions, and existing collegiate or organizational committees. Receive feedback about current plan, areas of focus, opportunities for distinctiveness, and issues to address.

4. Steering Committee Draft

The Steering Committee drafts a plan and submits it to the University of Iowa President and Provost. The draft plan is due by February 3rd, 2020.

5. Refined Plan

Receive feedback from the University of Iowa President and Provost. Transition to further refinement of the plan.

6. Finalize Plan

The final plan is submitted to the University of Iowa President and Provost. The plan is currently in the finalizing stage.
