Kyle Anson named associate vice president for human resources for UI Health Care

Kyle Anson, JD, MBA, has been named the associate vice president for human resources (HR) with UI Health Care, after serving in the position on an interim basis since June 2024. His full-time appointment is effective Nov. 1.

“Kyle has brought a thoughtful, strategic approach to this role, plus he has a very thorough understanding of our organization’s needs and values,” says Denise Jamieson, MD, MPH, UI vice president for medical affairs and the Tyrone D. Artz Dean of the Carver College of Medicine. “His leadership has already made a meaningful difference in how we support and engage our workforce, and I’m confident he will continue to elevate our HR strategy in ways that benefit our entire health system for many years to come.”

Anson brings more than a decade of experience at UI Health Care, where he has held several leadership roles within HR. Most recently, he has been responsible for overseeing HR operations across the entire health system, which includes nearly 20,000 employees. Anson also maintains a strong, collaborative relationship with the University of Iowa HR team.

During his interim tenure as associate vice president for HR, Anson guided the successful integration of Mission Cancer + Blood into UI Health Care and oversaw the onboarding and alignment of staff at the new North Liberty campus. He also helped launch a new leadership development program — Engage, Inspire, Transform: Leading UI Health Care — which began in February 2025 with roughly 280 leaders participating. The initiative is designed to strengthen leadership capabilities in alignment with the organization’s culture and engagement goals.

Under his leadership, UI Health Care has also seen improvements in employee retention and hiring outcomes.

Anson has previously held various roles within HR, including director of compensation and senior human resources director, leading multiple HR centralized support functions including compensation and classification, payroll, and the transaction workflow knowledge center. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Anson played a key role in guiding UI Health Care through unprecedented challenges by implementing remote work policies, supporting frontline staff, and maintaining clear communication and expectations.
