Kyle Anson, JD, MBA, has been named the interim associate vice president for human resources with UI Health Care, effective June 3.

His appointment comes after Jana Wessels, JD, MBA, announced her plans to retire after 35 years of service at the university.

Anson, who has worked at UI Health Care for close to 11 years, currently serves as assistant vice president, overseeing clinical human resource operations.

As interim associate VP, Anson will oversee human resources activities for the entire health system, which now comprises nearly 20,000 employees.

“Kyle is a talented HR professional with strong leadership skills and a strategic vision in shaping our HR initiatives,” says Denise Jamieson, MD, MPH, UI vice president for medical affairs and the Tyrone D. Artz Dean of the Carver College of Medicine.

“As just one example of his dedication, Kyle led several key integration efforts during the transition of Mercy Iowa City to UI Health Care. He coordinated and extended nearly 1,000 comprehensive employee transition agreements in just a few short weeks. He also thoughtfully helped answer questions at all hours for our new employees. I’m grateful for his expertise and continued leadership at our organization.”

Anson has held various roles within HR, including director of compensation and senior human resources director, leading multiple HR centralized support functions including compensation and classification, payroll, and the transaction workflow knowledge center.

A search for a permanent associate VP for HR will begin soon.
