UI Health Care to move select Des Moines-based specialty services to new Urbandale location, increasing convenient access to care

A new University of Iowa Health Care location will open soon in Urbandale, bringing a several of the system’s existing Des Moines-based specialty services together under one roof, providing patients living in central and western Iowa with more convenient access to care, close to home.

The new clinic, located at 2901 NW 86th Street in Urbandale, is scheduled to open on Sept. 9, 2025. The Urbandale location will serve as a hub for many of the adult and pediatric specialty services currently offered at UI Health Care West Des Moines–Jordan Creek Parkway and UI Health Care Johnston–Chambery Boulevard, including adult hepatology, pediatric nephrology, pediatric urology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility services, and more.

“We are proud of the excellent services our clinics already provide in the Des Moines area, supporting UI Health Care’s broader mission to provide world-class care for all Iowans, close to home,” says Rachel Kirchner, director of UI Community Clinics. "By moving select adult and pediatric specialty services to a central location, we can improve the patient experience and expand access to the care we currently provide in this community.”

UI Health Care currently offers select specialty health care services in the Des Moines area, including those that are in high demand, like infertility care. Since the West Des Moines infertility clinic opened in 2020, it has seen more than 4,000 patients. UI Health Care has the highest IVF success rate in Iowa—10% higher than the national average for pregnancy success.

“We treat each of our patients as an individual, and we feel privileged to be a part of this community, as well as so many Des Moines families’ journeys to pregnancy,” says Abigail Mancuso, MD, reproductive endocrinologist at the West Des Moines Clinic. “We are excited about moving to a larger facility in Urbandale so more patients in Des Moines and beyond have increased access to infertility care. Having one central location where we can provide more kinds of testing and imaging all in one place will allow for better coordination of care.”

Patients currently receiving care at Johnston and Jordan Creek locations will receive more information from UI Health Care in the coming months.
