UI Health Care welcomes patients to new Urbandale location with combined services, convenient care

A new University of Iowa Health Care location in Urbandale brings several of the system’s existing Des Moines-based specialty services together under one roof, providing patients living in central and western Iowa with more convenient access to care, close to home.

The new clinic, located at 2901 86th Street in Urbandale, welcomed patients on Sept. 9, 2025. The Urbandale location serves as a hub for many of the adult and pediatric specialty services that were previously offered at UI Health Care West Des Moines–Jordan Creek Parkway and UI Health Care Johnston–Chambery Boulevard, which both closed in early September. The specialty services include adult hepatology, pediatric nephrology, pediatric urology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility services, and more.

“We are proud of the excellent services our clinics provide in the Des Moines area, supporting UI Health Care’s broader mission to provide world-class care for all Iowans, close to home,” says Rachel Kirchner, director of UI Community Clinics. "By moving select adult and pediatric specialty services to a central location, we aim to improve the patient experience and expand access to the care we currently provide in this community.”

The specialty health care services UI Health Care offers in the Des Moines area include those that are in high demand, such as infertility care. Before the recent move from West Des Moines to Urbandale, the infertility clinic saw more than 4,000 patients from 2020 to 2025. UI Health Care has the highest IVF success rate in Iowa 10% higher than the national average for pregnancy success.

“We treat each of our patients as an individual, and we feel privileged to be a part of this community, as well as so many Des Moines families’ journeys to pregnancy,” says Abigail Mancuso, MD, reproductive endocrinologist at the new Urbandale clinic. “We are excited about moving to a larger facility in Urbandale so more patients in Des Moines and beyond have increased access to infertility care. Having one central location where we can provide more kinds of testing and imaging all in one place will allow for better coordination of care.”
