Marta Van Beek, MD, MPH, has been named the executive medical director of ambulatory services for UI Health Care. In this role, Van Beek will drive and support alignment and consistency across all ambulatory sites, to guide access, patient experience, and patient-centered care.
Van Beek — who has served in a similar position supporting the university campus ambulatory clinics for the last four years — will now expand her scope to guide improvement efforts across the whole ambulatory clinical enterprise, reporting to Bevan Yueh, MD, MPH, chief physician executive of UI Health Care.
In her new role, Van Beek will work closely with clinical departments, senior leaders, clinic management, and clinic operations teams to drive organizational change and advance strategic imperatives to support ambulatory access and optimization.
“We are thrilled that Dr. Van Beek will take on additional responsibilities to include all UI Health Care ambulatory locations and services,” Yueh says. “She is uniquely qualified to take on this highly collaborative and forward-looking role because of her well-rounded understanding of our entire health system, specifically ambulatory operations, and her continuous commitment to progress and excellence.”
Yueh noted Van Beek’s impressive and longstanding track record of building strong, cross-disciplinary teams, championing accountability, and delivering impactful results as central to her selection for the role.
“I’m looking forward to seeing those skills applied to this new role in driving operational optimization, alignment, and a consistent care experience across our entire health care system,” he said.
Van Beek will partner with Tom Mulrooney, MHA, who serves as chief administrative officer of ambulatory operations and oversees ambulatory operational alignment and administrative integration across the health system.
As ambulatory services continue to expand significantly in size, scope, geographic reach, and clinical complexity, Van Beek and Mulrooney will work closely with clinical, operational, collegiate, and administrative leaders to advance high-impact ambulatory imperatives that enhance access, consistency, and drive organizational performance.
Van Beek has been a clinical faculty member at UI Health Care in the Department of Dermatology since 2003. She has previously served in various organizational roles during her tenure at UI Health Care, including an appointment from 2015 to 2021 as the UI Health Care medical chief of staff. Van Beek also serves as a trustee on the board of the American Medical Association.
