University of Iowa Health Care STEM Education programs engage thousands of students in grades Kindergarten through 12 annually through programming on the UI health sciences campus, outreach in the community at various STEM fairs or festivals, and special events with educational and community partners.

Kids Go STEM

Kids Go STEM! will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 9 a.m. to Noon at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine

UI Health Care STEM Education offers this annual program targeted to students in grades 6 through 8, but anyone is welcome to participate. During this free program, students will join medical and health sciences students and professionals from the University of Iowa for interactive medical simulations, experiments, and more to explore careers in STEM, STEM Concepts, and your health. Parents or chaperones will have special access to presentations from University of Iowa experts on topics including STEM, academic preparation, adolescent health, and more.

Teens Go STEM

Save the date for Teens Go STEM which will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.

Registration opens Winter 2026.

During this free career exploration program, students will join medical and health sciences students and professionals from the University of Iowa for hands-on simulations and activities focused on health care skills, innovations in health care, critical issues impacting Iowa’s health, pursuing a career in health care, and health literacy. Parents or chaperones will have special access to presentations from University of Iowa experts on academic preparation, adolescent health, and more.
