University of Iowa Health Care held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning to celebrate its new North Liberty campus, which will open on Monday, April 28, 2025. More than 250 community and business leaders gathered to hear remarks from university leaders and take tours of the new facility.
“We were delighted that so many leaders from across our community and state could join us in celebrating this exciting step forward for orthopedic care in Iowa. Our new facility will provide Iowans with increased access to world-class patient care, medical education, and clinical research,” says Denise Jamieson, MD, MPH, UI vice president for medical affairs and the Tyrone D. Artz Dean of the Carver College of Medicine. “Many patients and community members are eager for this medical center to open, and now we are just over two weeks away. It’s a really good feeling.”
The ribbon-cutting event offered attendees a sneak peek of the facility one day ahead of a community open house for the public that will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 12. Event link here.
Located at the corner of Forevergreen Road and Highway 965 in North Liberty, the campus joins UI Health Care’s university and downtown campuses, providing greater access to patient care services for the community, state, and region. The 60-acre campus includes a three-level hospital and five-level medical office building with outpatient clinics and space for clinical research and teaching activities.
The 469,000-square-foot facility includes:
Orthopedic surgery, inpatient care, and nonsurgical procedures
Orthopedic outpatient clinics
Walk-in clinic for orthopedic injuries with evening/weekend hours
Sports medicine and indoor/outdoor rehabilitation facilities
Open to all patients, providing convenient access to emergency services for the surrounding communities
With a cafeteria, gift shop, and other amenities—and available space for clinical training and education, plus additional room for future growth—it’s a facility that will serve Iowans for generations.
Patient flow within the North Liberty medical center will create a seamless experience for patients. Diagnostic imaging is integrated on each clinic floor, for example, allowing orthopedic patients to obtain necessary scans before proceeding directly to their clinic exam room.
